As of 2024, major streaming services have decided not to pay the artist for their hard work unless the artist can generate a certain threshold of streams yearly, indefinitely.

If the artist don’t meet this threshold, they will give the royalties that the artist did generate to other artist that have generated enough streams to reach the threshold. This is a form of theft in its own right. All forms of art are subjective and making music professionally is very expensive. It will be very hard for upcoming artist to make any money from their art to keep growing with their supporters. And the little that they might make is being given to other artist. You know the saying

“The rich, gets richer and the poor, gets poorer”.
